Wedding Photography at The Little Banqueting House at Hampton Court

Hampton Court Palace is one of my favourite venues and it is an honour to be one of their recommended photographers. They have a few amazing venue options at Hampton Court, which allows so many different types of weddings, and it's one of the reasons why I love it there so much.

Simon and Bryony were married in the Little Banqueting House at Hampton Court before taking all of their guests along the Thames by boat for an amazing backyard reception in Walton on Thames.

The styling of the day was all put together by the planners at 'Pocketful of Dreams' and looked fantastic. I can't recommend working with great wedding planners enough and Vicki and Michelle are amazing at what they do. As Simon is a science teacher all of the table designs were beautifully planned around this with different elements of the periodic table being used on each table. Drinks were served in test tubes and lab flasks and there were so many incredible details to enjoy.

Here are a few images from this amazing day.

Hampton Court Palace Weddings: Guide to Planning Your Wedding at Hampton Court Palace

Hampton Court Palace is one of the most iconic and historic wedding venues in the UK. Nestled on the banks of the River Thames in Surrey, this former royal residence offers a stunning and regal backdrop for your wedding day. If you’re considering Hampton Court Palace as your wedding venue or are searching for a Hampton Court Palace wedding photographer, this guide is here to help you plan your perfect day.

About Hampton Court Palace Wedding Venue

Hampton Court Palace is a breathtaking wedding venue with over 500 years of history. Originally home to King Henry VIII, the palace is a masterpiece of Tudor and Baroque architecture. With its opulent interiors, stunning gardens, and incredible sense of history, this venue is perfect for couples looking for a grand and romantic setting for their big day.

As a wedding venue, Hampton Court Palace offers a variety of spaces that cater to both intimate gatherings and larger celebrations. The venue is exclusively managed by Historic Royal Palaces, ensuring every detail is handled with care and professionalism.

The Little Banqueting House at Hampton Court Palace

The Little Banqueting House is one of the hidden gems of Hampton Court Palace. This intimate and charming space is ideal for smaller wedding ceremonies and receptions, offering a unique setting that blends history, elegance, and tranquillity.

About the Little Banqueting House

Nestled within the palace grounds, the Little Banqueting House is a stunning standalone building with breathtaking views of the Thames and the formal gardens. Originally built in 1700 for King William III, this space has an air of exclusivity and charm that makes it stand out from other wedding venues.

The interiors of the Little Banqueting House are nothing short of extraordinary. Its walls and ceilings are adorned with exquisite murals painted by the renowned 17th-century artist Antonio Verrio. These paintings create a sense of grandeur and romance, making it a magical setting for your wedding day.

Weddings at the Little Banqueting House

The Little Banqueting House is perfect for couples seeking an intimate and sophisticated celebration. It can host up to 50 guests for a ceremony or seated reception, making it ideal for smaller weddings.

One of the highlights of this venue is its flexibility. You can exchange vows inside the beautifully decorated main room, then enjoy drinks or canapés in the garden or by the riverside. With the palace grounds as your backdrop, you’ll have endless opportunities for stunning wedding photography.

Other Venue Spaces at Hampton Court Palace

In addition to the Little Banqueting House, Hampton Court Palace offers several other incredible spaces for weddings:

  • The Great Hall: This iconic space, once used by Henry VIII for grand banquets, is perfect for larger celebrations. With its high hammer-beam ceiling, stained glass windows, and medieval tapestries, it’s a truly spectacular setting for a wedding feast.

  • The Garden Room: Located within the palace grounds, the Garden Room is a light-filled space surrounded by beautiful walled gardens. It can accommodate up to 180 guests and is ideal for couples who want a mix of indoor and outdoor elements on their wedding day.

  • The Privy Garden: Perfect for outdoor ceremonies or drinks receptions, the Privy Garden is a stunning formal garden with manicured hedges, vibrant flowers, and sweeping views of the palace.

Each space within Hampton Court Palace offers its own unique character, ensuring there’s something to suit every couple’s vision.

Wedding Photography at Hampton Court Palace

As a wedding photographer, Hampton Court Palace is one of my favourite venues to work at. The combination of historic architecture, lush gardens, and riverside views creates a perfect backdrop for timeless and romantic wedding photos.

The Little Banqueting House, in particular, offers some incredible opportunities for photography. The beautifully painted interiors add a dramatic and regal feel to your indoor shots, while the surrounding gardens and views of the Thames provide a stunning natural backdrop.

If you’re planning a wedding at the palace, I recommend setting aside time for photos in some of these key locations:

  • The Privy Garden: This formal garden offers vibrant colours and perfectly symmetrical lines that make for elegant and classic portraits.

  • The Fountain Court: A quieter spot within the palace grounds, this courtyard is perfect for romantic couple shots with a touch of Baroque charm.

  • The River Thames: Take a moment to capture some images along the riverbank. The combination of water, greenery, and the palace in the background creates breathtaking compositions.
