Singapore Wedding Photography at Orchard Hotel
After working with Zhi and Ivana for their pre wedding photography in the Cotswolds I was honoured when they asked me to fly over to Singapore for their wedding celebrations at the Orchard Hotel.
I have been lucky enough to photograph weddings and pre wedding photography in Singapore before and it is definitely one of my favourite cities in the world and I was excited to return there again to tell the story of Zhi and Ivana’s wedding day the Orchard Hotel.
The day began early with Ivana’s bridal preparations taking place at the Orchard Hotel before Zhi and his entourage arrived for the Singapore gatecrash ceremony and fetch the bride. The grooms gatecrash is a traditional and fun start to many weddings in Singapore and involves the groom completing a number of fun, humiliating and rather painful tasks to prove that he is worthy enough of gaining access to the bride.
It is the bridesmaids task to devise all of the tests that the groom must take and Ivana’s bridesmaids were particularly cruel! Poor Zhi and the groomsmen were required to eat some incredibly spicy concoctions, spoonfuls of the cinnamon and some unmentionable drinks as well as solving complex maths problems. Only when all of these tasks were successfully completed was Zhi granted access to the bridal suite.
The wedding celebrations continued with a traditional tea ceremonies that took place at Zhi’s parents house before the entire bridal party made their way to Marina Barrage for some photographs with the bride and groom as well as the bridal party. Marina Barrage offers some of the most spectacular views over Marina Bay, Gardens by the Bay and Marina Bay Sands Hotel and was the perfect location for the bride and groom wedding photographs.
We then headed back to the hotel for the tea ceremonies with the bride's family and this was followed by the most incredible banquet at the Orchard Hotel.
