Pre Wedding Photo Shoot in Penn Buckinghamshire

Pre Wedding Photography Shoot in Penn Wood Buckinghamshire

Penn Wood near Amersham in Buckinghamshire is always one of my ‘go-to’ locations for countryside pre wedding photography shoots for so many reasons. It is a beautiful woodland location that is perfect for capturing relaxed, natural images in an incredible setting and the area, which is one of the oldest areas of natural woodland in Buckinghamshire, is such a great backdrop for a natural engagement shoot.

Saneil and Roshni had a multi-day Indian wedding planned and we spent some time in Penn Wood for this amazing couple’s pre wedding shoot before the events began. I had met Roshni a number of times before as she had been a guest and bridesmaid at a number of other Indian weddings that I had photographed and so I knew just how lovely she was and how easy to work with that Roshni was going to be. Saneil is an absolute gentleman and together they make the perfect couple who were a pleasure to work with over the course of all of their Hindu wedding events.

Here are a few images from this lovely pre wedding engagement shoot in Pen Wood Amersham.

10 Reasons to Have a Woodland Pre-Wedding Shoot

A pre-wedding photoshoot is a wonderful opportunity to capture your love story in a natural and relaxed setting before your big day. While there are many stunning locations to choose from, a woodland setting offers something truly special. Here are ten reasons why a woodland pre-wedding shoot might be perfect for you.

1. Stunning Natural Backdrops

Woodlands provide a breathtaking natural setting, with towering trees, lush greenery, and dappled sunlight filtering through the leaves. The ever-changing seasons also offer a variety of colour palettes, from fresh spring greens to rich autumnal hues.

2. A Romantic and Intimate Atmosphere

The secluded nature of a woodland location allows couples to feel more at ease, resulting in natural and authentic moments. The peaceful surroundings create an intimate atmosphere that enhances the romance of the shoot.

3. Soft, Dreamy Lighting

Natural light is a photographer’s best friend, and woodlands offer some of the best conditions. The canopy of trees filters sunlight, creating a soft, diffused glow that adds a magical touch to your photos.

4. A Unique and Timeless Setting

Unlike urban or studio-based shoots, woodland settings provide a timeless and classic backdrop. Whether you want a fairy-tale feel or a bohemian look, a woodland shoot can be adapted to suit your style.

5. Seasonal Variety

Each season brings a unique charm to woodland settings. Spring and summer provide lush greenery and blooming flowers, while autumn offers golden leaves and rich colours. Even winter can be stunning, with frosty landscapes and bare branches creating a striking contrast.

6. A Chance to Connect with Nature

A woodland pre-wedding shoot is perfect for couples who love the outdoors. It’s an opportunity to step away from the hustle and bustle of wedding planning and immerse yourselves in nature, making the experience even more special.

7. Perfect for Storytelling Photography

Woodlands provide endless opportunities for creative and storytelling photography. Whether you’re walking hand in hand along a winding path, sitting on a fallen tree, or framed by arching branches, the setting adds depth and narrative to your images.

8. Ideal for Casual and Formal Styles

One of the great things about a woodland shoot is its versatility. Whether you prefer a casual look with cosy knitwear or a more formal style with flowing dresses and suits, the natural surroundings complement any outfit choice.

9. Less Crowded Than Other Locations

Unlike popular city spots or beaches, woodlands tend to be quieter and more private. This means fewer distractions and more opportunities to focus on each other, resulting in relaxed and intimate photos.

10. A Fun and Memorable Experience

Beyond the stunning photos, a woodland shoot is an enjoyable experience. Walking through nature, sharing laughter, and embracing the fresh air all contribute to making special memories before your wedding day.
